Food are consumable items that restore a certain amount of HP to the Peasant when picking them up. If the Peasant has the Lunchbox.pngLunchbox one food item can be stored. Food may drop from Chests, enemies, when clearing rooms, Relic effects, or by destroying objects. Food can be purchased in Shops.

Food can be easily destroyed before being consumed. It has a small amount of HP that can be reduced by being attacked, and is able to fall into pits.

It can be cooked to restore more HP, but it takes a small amount of fire damage in the process; cooking on water reduces the amount by 1–2 HP. If the Peasant has The Crumbles.pngThe Crumbles curse, it is destroyed before being cooked. The Pocket Grill.pngPocket Grill immediately cooks all food items. Cooking food in shops will increase its price.

Golden food restores HP and adds Gold to the Peasant's inventory. Food can be converted into its golden counterpart by possessing the Golden Delicious.pngGolden Delicious or pushing food into molten gold in the Golden Core.

There is an option in the game menu to avoid consuming food while being at full health (disabled by default).

Food HP adjustment

The restorative value of food can be permanently upgraded by buying Shakers in the Hub. The following values given are for all variants.
