Penance is a blessing item in UnderMine.

This option is available at all altars (even with Uncreative), which allows the peasant to remove a curse at the cost of health. The curse which is removed is selected at random; if a minor curse is stacked, all stacks are removed if it is selected. It does not inflict Curses.

The base cost of Penance is 50 HP, costing an additional 25 HP every time it is used afterwards. The cost can be altered by:

• Tariffs and Malicious Intent: Doubles the cost of Penance.
• Sylph: Reduces the cost of Penance by half.
• Antimatter: Penance heals the player instead of inflicting damage.
• Nullstone: Can negate the damage completely.
• Karmic Scale Makes penance always cost 1hp.

Taking Penance while afflicted with Sweaty Palms causes a bomb to drop at the player's feet.
